Dr. Stephen Beckerman, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Stephen Beckerman, O.D., F.A.A.O. is a graduate from Washington University in St. Louis. He received his Bachelor's degree in Applied Science in Electrical Engineering. His doctoral work was performed at the State University of N.Y. College of Optometry. Dr. Beckerman completed his fellowship at the Illinois College of Optometry specializing in Low Vision and Pediatrics/Binocular Vision. He is currently an Associate Professor of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry teaching in the primary care and pediatrics/binocular vision clinics.
With over 20 years as head of the Sports Vision program at the Illinois College of Optometry, and for his involvement with the AAU Junior Olympics Sports Vision Testing Program, Dr. Beckerman has been named Sports Vision Optometrist of the Year by the American Optometric Association. Dr. Beckerman is also in expert in Sports Vision and received the Craig McFarlane Award from Prevent Blindness America for designing the Special Olympics Screening Program. |
Dr. Jennifer Harthan, O.D., F.A.A.O., FSLS
Dr. Jennifer S. Harthan, O.D., F.A.A.O., FSLS is a 2006 graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO). Dr. Harthan grew up in Minnesota and attended Bethel College in St. Paul, where she received a bachelor's of science degree in biology in 2002. Dr. Harthan completed a Cornea and Contact Lens Residency at ICO in July, 2007 and received multiple awards for her clinical work. She has had experience working in hospital and private practice settings.Dr. Harthan is actively involved in ocular surface disease and contact lens research and lectures on these topics at national meetings.
As a student, Dr. Harthan had the opportunity to complete an externship at Glenview Vision Care and is excited to be a part of Dr. Beckerman's practice part-time. Dr. Harthan is also a clinical educator at ICO and lives in Glenview with her husband, Jon. |
Dr. Valeriya Smolyansky, O.D. - (Dr. Val)
Dr. Valeriya Smolyansky O.D. obtained an undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in neuroscience from Loyola University Chicago. She then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry; where she graduated cum laude and had the honor of receiving the Polly Flink Eastland Memorial Award. Dr. Smolyansky then went on to complete her residency in pediatric and binocular vision at the Illinois College of Optometry.
Dr. Smolyansky examines patients of all ages for primary eye care and contact lens fittings, but has a passion for working with infants and toddlers. She has a special interest and expertise in binocular vision disorders, amblyopia, focusing problems and myopia control. Dr. Smolyansky holds memberships in the Illinois Optometric Associations, College of Optometrists in Vision Development, and American Optometric Association. On her free time she loves spending time with her family, party planning and enjoying the outdoors. |
